When I was first diagnosed with Diabetes, I started my Low Carb High Fat Keto way of eating with so called “keto friendly foods” from my non keto life. It helped me adapt to my new way of eating. But as a diabetic, after some time as my body got used to the new way of eating and those so called keto lookalikes started to cause problems.
So gradually I stopped eating keto lookalikes. I don’t have to by alternative flours and sugars. Your brain reacts to the sweet taste of alternative sugars like it does to regular sugar and spikes your blood sugar. Oy vey.
In the 5 years since I was diagnosed the ketogenic diet has exploded and there are tons of groups. There are very few who stick to the strict keto diet. Many Facebook groups have become a compilation of the best keto lookalike recipes. Unsuspecting members who don’t know better gobble up the information and then wonder why they don’t get the results that is talked about. Then they complain that they just can’t follow a strict keto diet as they find it too restricting.
With Low Carb High Fat Keto it all comes down to your WHY. What do you want to accomplish. Is your health more important than what you eat.
Dr. Rob Cywes the CarbDoc explains it the best. Caution there is swearing in the video.
